Definitely a staple of my childhood, macaroni and cheese was inducted into my "favorite foods as a kid" hall of fame. Amazingly simple to construct, it tasted terrible the second day. It was rich and smooth, unless you swallowed a pocket of unmixed cheese powder. It made a horribly gross sound when it got scooped out of the pot with wooden spoon, and it smelled like cardboard. Ah? everything one looks for in a gourmet entree.
