About Us (and This Blog)

kim_on_jasons_back.jpgWelcome to our blog. It started as an online journal called Bird Droppings written by Jason on a message board before blogs were invented by Al Gore’s intern. After Jason had been blogging for a few years, Kim started her own blog, known as Swingset Reflections, when she retired from teaching kindergarten. Our blogs eventually got married and evolved into a singular hodge podge of fun diversions, personal ramblings and useful strategies from childhood. It’s an invitation to Escape Adulthood, even if for a little bit.

We are authors and professional speakers who travel around the world speaking to people about how to recognize and treat Adultitis (resulting in more fulfilling lives that are way more fun and way less stressful.) You can read the Escape Adulthood manifesto for a pretty good summary of our mission. We have been described as a cross between Mr. Rogers and Dr. Phil, which suits us just fine. Our crazy journey began when Jason — the artist in the family — used some doodles in a sappy attempt to win over Kim. Those early sketches evolved into a comic strip about childhood, Kim & Jason, which was first published in 2000, which was also the year we got married. Jason wrote Escape Adulthood: 8 Secrets from Childhood for the Stressed-Out Grown-Up in 2005 and we teamed up to write and publish The Escape Plan in 2007.

But enough about us (you can peruse more dirt on Kim and Jason if you’re the extra curious type.) Thanks for visiting our blog. Read some stuff, make some comments, and be sure to subscribe to get updates via RSS or E-mail. We hope this blog helps you dream big dreams, delight in the little things, live more passionately and ask more questions.

And remember to always stop and smell the Play-Doh.
