I loved getting a new outfit. The best part of the outfit was the hat and gloves Mom would buy to match the outfit. Those are also some of my favorite family pictures, with all of us dressed up holding our Easter baskets.

I have to agree with Jason on the Peeps. Besides anything chocolate in my Easter basket,Peeps were my favorite. Even as an adult they still rank at the top.
One of my kids does not like Peeps and I would always make sure that Peeps were in her basket, because then I would get to eat them! At that time, we usually did not have the extra cash to buy some for ourselves.

It's definitely the Easter Egg hunt. My dad would make funny clues for each egg and then the six of us kids would rack our brains trying to figure them out and and then run laughing after the eggs. Finally the hunt ended with the Easter baskets all hidden away in a funny spot. My dad wrote the best, silliest, most entertaining clues!

Easter is my favorite holiday. It's kind of like Halloween with all the candy, but less scary - that is except for some of the scary Easter clothes I wore through the years. I have a picture on my facebook photo album of my brother and me sitting on the brown fake leather couch. I have a new Toni Perm in my hair, a white hat, white gloves a pink and white Easter dress, white lace socks, and white patent shoes. My little brother is on the verge of tears (obviously did not want his picture made) and had on a "little man suit" complete with bow tie!

Oh those were the days! Easter egg hunts at school, church, and grandmas. My uncles always donated $$ for the prize egg!

Every year, when I was a child, my aunt would make me the most beautiful "Lamb Cake" for Easter! It was a lamb with white icing and covered in coconut to look more like lamb's wool! The lamb had jelly bean eyes and nose. Then, Aunt Annie had dyed coconut green and would
have it completely encircling the cake like grass. Scattered in the grass were jelly beans of all colors!
Not only did her cake look like perfection, it tasted great. When she passed away 24 years ago, I was fortunate to inherit the old tin lamb mold that she used to make my Easter cake! Now, I attempt to make my sons an Easter Lamb cake, but it will never be quite like Aunt Annie's. I cherish her memory.
Thanks and Happy Easter..... Cindi

The best part of Easter for me when I was little was always the purple and yellow knitted birdies that slipped around our Easter eggs like a sock, the egg becoming the body. Grandma hand knit them herself with love so they were extra special to me.

I was also just absolutely amazed by those elaborately decorated sugar eggs Grandma displayed. You know, the ones with the tiny little scenes created in the hollow of them. It was like a whole different little world in there.

Yup, Grandma really knew how to do Easter.

We had a 2 story apartment. The best memory was coming downstairs, looking around the corner, and seeing 3 beautiful Easter baskets lined up on the sofa, overflowing with goodies! One for each of us 3 girls in different colors. There was always a large chocolate bunny in the middle, marshmallow peeps, jelly beans and more in a colorful candy explosion.

Yay!!! Thanks!

With apologies to Jason, I'm gonna have to go with culinary disaster, although I don't feel THAT strongly about it. I like marshmallows, but when you coat them with sugar, they don't taste as good. They are, however, a great subject of scientific research, as seen here: http://www.peepresearch.org

I have also determined that, shockingly, I don't think the Adultitis Guy has adultitis. I think he's pretending to have adultitis, which is a very childlike thing to do, thank you very much! He also appears to be having a lot of fun pretending not to have fun. What adultitis-laden person would even think of a rabbit hatching pterodactyls?

Anyway, favorite Easter memory... My parents used to hide Easter baskets around the house, and we'd have to search for them. That was fun. More recently, my brother came up with the brilliant idea to paint Easter eggs on New Years Eve, and not just any Easter eggs...we put dates on them, so they looked like they were several months or years old. (One of my favorites said "Remember Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941".) We really got into that. I think we may have made some Christmas eggs and St. Patrick's Day eggs too while we were at it...as well as some other holidays. I believe we also painted Easter eggs at the Jolly Polyholiday Party that I mentioned under the show about offbeat holidays.

The best part of Easter has to be the egg hunt! In our family we would go all out- anything from money in eggs to Easter egg scavenger hunts and even a color coded treats depending on the color of eggs you found! Every year it would change and get a little more creative.... I wonder what it will be this year?!
