Adultitis in the NFL

Posted on 12/29/2008 by Kim

The other day Jason was watching football, the Patriots vs. the Cardinals. It was on of those super snowy games that are a hoot to watch, especially when the fans throw up snowballs after a touchdown. I was paying attention out of the corner of my eye, while feeding Lucy, when Wes Welker scored a touchdown and proceeded to fall to the ground to make a snow angel. This caught my attention. Very fun! I was shocked to hear that seconds later the officials gave Welker a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. Eventually he was also slapped with a $10,000 fine.

Adultitis alert!

I know that this is a professional sport and all… but who says you can’t have a little fun and still be professional? I guess my definition of “unsportsmanlike conduct” is quite different than that of the NFL’s. To me, Welker was celebrating in a very childlike way… something we would certainly advocate.

Here’s the video. You be the judge. Do you think Welker was out of line?

Good grief! I think the NFL is guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct!

Yes, the NFL is definitely guilty of a bad case of adultitis! Even if he didn’t trip, I still love the snow angel idea – way to go Mr. Welker!!

Make a snow-angel, get fined and penalized. Sell drugs and carry guns, get a multi-million dollar contract. Definately adultitis infected!

It’s official. NFL now stands for No Fun League. If I were making that much moolah, I’d do snow angels on national TV, too. Let ‘em fine me!

That just isn’t right – he did no harm to anyone and was just having a moment of fun !

I totally agree with you. I remember watching that and thinking how ridiculous it was. I know some people think players were getting out of hand years ago, but com’on.
