Thursday Giveaway: Suede Dominoes Set

by Jason on 10/2/2008 in Thursday Giveaway

Every Thursday, we pick out one of the cool things from the Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand and give it away. Yep, for free.

This week’s prize is a Suede Dominoes Set. Challenge dad to a game of dominoes! Not sure how to play? No prob, this nifty red suede set includes 28 “Double-Sixes” wooden domino pieces and complete playing instructions.

Here’s how to enter:

  1. Just leave a comment on this post, answering this week’s question: “What game that you play as an adult most makes you feel like a kid?”
  2. Deadline for entries is 11:59 pm CST on the day of the post. We’ll pick a winner from the list of comments on the following Friday.
  3. We’ll contact the winner by e-mail to find out where to send the prize.

Good luck! And don’t miss any of the other cool stuff for the young at heart at The Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand!

**UPDATE: This week’s winner was Minette:

I don’t have as much of a chance to play games as I’d like *sigh* – but I love playing Yahtzee – and you HAVE to yell “Yahtzee” at the top of your lungs when you get the Yahtzee! I’ve always just loved getting the numbers in the various slots and adding them up. (Yep, I work in the financial business now, too!) My sibs and I had to come up with 3 or 4 letter nicknames for each other since we all have the same initials. I’m “Min”, my sister is “Ace”, other sis is “Marv”, brother is “Bro”. (We weren’t always that creative!)

Even though this week’s contest is over, you can still buy your very own Suede Dominoes Set at the Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand. And stay tuned next week for the next chance to win!

K & J,

With six kids in the house, and lucky #7 due in January, it may seem hard for adultitis to creep in. It does. Last weekend I suggested playing flashlight tag at night with my kids and boy was it a BLAST!! Talk about transportation back to childhood. We used to play that game all the time out on the farm. It was a lot of fun running and giggling and hiding with the kids. I sure felt very childlike that evening. I think we will make it a regular occasion.

Ya know,I love playing twister with my family. It makes me act silly and I am bad to lean on other people on purpose so they will fall.I am not as flexable as I used to be,so I have to cheat!

My answer ties in perfectly with this giveaway – dominoes! I used to sneak over to grandma’s house whenever I could and play dominoes with her. It was “our thing.”

With kids being born a little after the normal years, just being with my kids makes me feel young. My most favorite is the late nights, often the kids sleep on the sides of our bed on the floor, and we will make shadow animals, tell stories or the like. We play all sorts of games together (a refreshing change from the games I have to play at work), so there is not one specific game to mention. We all should know its about attitude anyway.

My daughter and I love to play ‘Go Fish’. I loved that game as a kid and still love it.

We just purchased a fun new game called Texas Hold Em Opoly. It is a mix between Monopoly and Texas Hold Em. It is a great game. However, the game that probably makes me feel the most like a kid again would have to be the pouting game. If I really want something that isn’t on the “needs” list, I have to pout to my wife. This reminds me of my childhood and having to pout to my Mom to get what I wanted. Why is it that I have to pout to get anything??? FYI – I am currently pouting about the domino set…. :(

The first game that popped in my head is Twister but there are so many! Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Hands Down, Kerplunk…I could keep going, you know…

Recently, I had a group of kids running around the church hall, and I was able to stop them and asked them what was going on? They told me they were playing hide and seek! I thought it was cool, but “not here” cuz they could bump into our senior citizens…soo I called up all the kids into a classroom instead and played with them “red and green” game.

It s a game from my old neighborhood.
The “it” person would stand about 800-900 yards away and turn his/her back and all the kids would start running, and kids must stop and freeze when It turns around again and say “Red!” the It person may say “go back to starting line, I saw you move!” The closest person tags the “it” and then play the new game with the new “It”. It was cool passing on to a new generation! It wouldnt matter if your deaf or not..it is a game for all kids of all ages! Even I was playing too!

Howdy! The “Suede Dominoes” are wonderful. They remind me of my husband’s maternal grandfather. Dominoes were his favorite game to play with us when we visited him!
This summer when the neighborhood kids would end up playing in our back yard, we played “Freeze Tag!” I have vivid memories of the neighborhood where I grew up playing freeze tag a lot. Also, Black Panther, Kick the Can and Badminton. Those were the good old days. Thanks for the great contest. Cindi

Once a month a group of my friends get together and play the dice game Bunco. Now this to many sounds like an “old people’s” game, but trust me it is not. Yelling “”BUNCO” at the top of your lungs is a blast. We also have something called “Social”, which is when you get a baby bunco you yell social as loud as you can and everyone together takes a drink of their beverage. This is one time a month it’s okay that we get loud and obnoxious.
