Every Thursday, we pick out one of the cool things from the Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand and give it away. Yep, for free.

This week’s prize is I Am 8-Bit: Art Inspired by Classic Videogames of the ’80s. Pac-Man. Frogger. Super Mario Bros. These classic videogames are burned into the collective consciousness of an entire generation, thanks to countless hours spent at pizza parlors and bowling alleys across the country. Now artists such as Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, and Ashley Wood put their memories to paper, canvas, and wood to create original works of art inspired by the art of the video game. With more than 100 thought-provoking, amusing, and simply fun pieces of original art, i am 8-bit is a pixilated stroll down memory lane.

Here’s how to enter:

  1. Just leave a comment on this post, answering this week’s question: “What was your favorite video game from the 80s?”
  2. Deadline for entries is 11:59 pm CST on the day of the post. We’ll pick a winner from the list of comments on the following Friday.
  3. We’ll contact the winner by e-mail to find out where to send the prize.

Good luck! And don’t miss any of the other cool stuff for the young at heart at The Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand!

**UPDATE: This week’s winner was Rich Mayo:

No question. Two joysticks and enemies completely surrounding you. Robotron 2084 by Williams. I still have dreams about the first time I scored over a million points on this one. Ahh, the eighties…

Even though this week’s contest is over, you can still buy your very own I Am 8-Bit at the Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand. And stay tuned next week for the next chance to win!

Oh, always Miss Pac-Man! (At least I think it was Miss Pac-Man, maybe it was Pac-Man.) My twin sister and I would have contests with each other to see which one would get the High Score or at least higher than the other! Ah, we had many a fun afternoon on vacation at the Miss Pac-Man game! (It as always fun to see as Pac-Man and Miss Pac-Man met, then kissed, then…had Pac-babies???) Frogger was a close second, but Miss Pac-Man always got my heart racing - trying to get out just as those gobbling goblings came up behind!

I remember playing Super Mario on my cousin’s old Nintendo. I thought it was so cool that he let me play it, because he was older than me. I have loved that game ever since!

Video games have no relevant place in society. I can’t be wasting my time on frivolous activities that have no practical application in my life.

There would be no need for a game like Pitfall if people would stay on designated paths in our national parks. Maybe kids today should be playing a new game called,”Stay On The National Park’s Designated Path: A Poison Ivy Tale.”

I refuse to participate in the rotting of today’s youth by letting them play “games.”

I don’t plan on living my life in a fantasy land where plumbers dodge barrels and jump over mushrooms, where yellow dots marry and eat ghosts, and where amphibians dodge automobiles. Thank you very much!

It was PacMan for me….we had one of those little hand held games that looked like a regular sized video game, and it was so addictive!
I still like the game, in fact, I just bought a used one for my 8 yr. old and she loves it too!
Thanks!

I played so many, it’s hard to choose a favorite. My 3 favorites were Pac Man, Donkey Kong & Asteroids.
