Every Thursday, we pick out one of the cool things from the Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand and give it away. Yep, for free.

This week’s prize is the Mini Hummingbird Feeder. You can enjoy getting to know the beauty of the flower-kissing hummingbird even if you don’t have a garden. This kit contains a feeder, a suction cup for mounting it, a magnet and a vial, as well as a 32-page miniature book that includes a simple recipe for syrup for your feeder. Easy feeder preparation and maintenance are discussed in the book. The Mini Hummingbird Feeder is a great way to start attracting these amazing tiny birds, even if you live in an urban area.

Here’s how to enter:

  1. Just leave a comment on this post, answering this week’s question: “What is your favorite kind of bird and why?
  2. Deadline for entries is 11:59 pm CST on the day of the post. We’ll pick a winner from the list of comments on the following Friday.
  3. We’ll contact the winner by e-mail to find out where to send the free prize.

Good luck! And don’t miss any of the other cool stuff for the young at heart at The Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand!

**UPDATE: This week’s winner was Sadie:

Believe it or not my favorite bird is actually the hummingbird.  They hold special meaning for my family because we believe that those that have passed on visit us in the form of a hummingbird at odd times of the year (middle of a very cold fall, for example) to let us know they are alright.

Even though this week’s contest is over, you can still buy your very own Mini Hummingbird Feeder at the Kim & Jason Lemonade Stand. And stay tuned next week for the next chance to win!

My favorite bird is the hummingbird. My Grandma has hummingbird feeders and we watch them all the time. Now that I am living on my own, that is one thing I want to add to my home so that I can watch them drink from the feeder and think of my Grandma.

People would think I’m crazy when they hear that my favorite bird has recently become a pigeon. But I have a good explanation. My 11-month-old daughter is fascinated by birds. They move a lot and make noise, which qualify them as an item of interest to her. When we’re out at the park, waiting in line at Magic Mountain, or even just walking through the Target parking lot, I can always count on finding a pigeon or two or twenty. Watching her excitement and listening to her try to say “duck” as she points to them is more than enough to make me feel like a kid again.

My favorite birds are sea gulls. I grew up near the beach and have moved away and I know I’m getting close to the ocean when the sea gulls start appearing. They really are annoying birds but I love what they represent.

My favorite bird is the robin because it’s one of the first signs of spring. After a long hard winter, I watch for that first robin and I’m looking forward to a new spring again!

Blue Jay… fun to watch, aggressive buggers though when you get anywhere near their nests

Greetings! What an adorable hummingbird feeder. The size is perfect. My favorite bird that lives in my area is the “Black-Capped Chickadee!” My elderly dad always tells me they look like they have little ball caps on! Their size is really cute, also. I get a lot of them on my feeders. Please enter me in your drawing. Thanks,Cindi

Hi! It was great meeting Jason and Kim at church on Sunday! :) My new favorite bird is the killdeer (as of a few hours ago). There are three of them that apparently have a nest or 2 on the side of our home (a new construction — the first spring it’s been here). Every time we go to the windows on one side of our home, they go nuts, trying to lead us away from that side of the house. They are making the prettiest chirping, too. My 3 kids are getting a big kick out of watching them.
God’s so cool to have given us so MANY different species of birds to choose from! (My second favorite bird is the sparrow. Because of the beautiful song it sings, and because of the song “His Eye is on the Sparrow”. Have a great day!

My favorite bird of all times has to be the crow. Not only because they’re cheeky little buggers, but because they have such personality.

My husband and I love watching them in parking lots strutting around like pompous little gentlemen or just watching for an unprotected goodie. They’re also fearless, waiting till the last second to get out of the road when they see oncoming traffic.

That would be the homely sparrow. Why? Because they’re always there my backyard, chirping away, playing, fighting and most importantly, keeping my toddler engrossed so I can get some work done :)

Hummingbirds would keep him fascinated for hours!

My favorite bird is the great American Bald Eagle. I can sit and watch the eagle soar for as long as I can. I am just mesmerized by them. To see them swoop down and catch a fish right from the river is the best!

I like most birds. As for wild birds, I love watching a family of doves, they are very devoted parents. For domesticated birds, the parrot is quite entertaining.

I absolutely love hummingbirds! I have planted several perennials in my yard to attract them and would love to get another feeder for multiple birds!

I love the woodpeckers….we have so many of them (we live in conservation district on 5 acres of heavily wooded (read we have no grass) property. They come in all shapes and sizes — and of all the birds(and there are alot of them) that live on our property I like watching these the best.

Hmmm…my favorite bird. Hummingbirds are fascinating to watch. And the feeder is so cute! I would have to say my favorite bird is Tweetie.

My favorite kind of bird is the American Bald Eagle Where we used to live we used to watch them fly over the lake and they were just so beautiful not to mention a symbol of America!

I also love hummingbirds and find them so neat to watch!

My favorite bird is the Northern Cardinal. We had one that would show up in my neighbor’s lilac bush every winter when I was growing up. We never saw him in the warmer month, but for about one week every year, he spents his days fluttering about in the back yard.

I live on a wooded lot now, so we see a ton of birds, but it’s still rare to see a cardinal. I actually just spotted the first in over two years this past week. There were two that were traveling together - a female who spent most of her time perched on a low branch, and a bright red male who was flying all over from one tree to the next. Seeing them certainly made my day! (I even tried getting a picture with my camera phone to send my dad, since they’re his favorite bird as well, but the picture came out as just a tiny red speck amongst a sea of brown.)

Favorite is a very hard question to answer. I am a “birder” and watch and feed a variety. I love the Hummingbirds, Finches, Woodpeckers and Spotted Towhee.
I guess the Western Tanager with his gorgeous color is my favorite and I have a pair that nest in my backyard every year.

I think my favorite bird is probably the robin. Every day, the robins nest in the tree in my front yard, and they always play on the perch outside my office window. They’re always so playful, and never fail to put me in a good mood.

I love peacocks. They are so beautiful when their tails are fanned. They chase, though. Don’t like that much!

My favorite bird is a BLUE BIRD. I thinks it’s so ironic to see a bird that looks like a robin but instead having a primary blue colour and red chest.

Absolutely stunning.

Feel free to pop by and say hello.

I love birds! I love Juno’s because they are small and cute and they have cool tails. I love Blue Jays because they are larger than most birds and are beautiful. I love woodpeckers because they are fun to watch. But, I think Hummingbirds are my favorite because of their beautiful colors and small size.
