my dad was one of those very traditional “woman cooks, brings me hot meal” kind of man…but for some reason always made eggs and bacon on sunday mornings for my big family. I just loved waking up in the morning to the smell of his cooking. Of course, the girls had to do the dishes…..

My dad actually does the cooking/baking so I have wonderful memories of us using the snoopy snow machine or the ice cream maker or the easy bake oven! I still love to bake!

We used to always make sugar cookies every Christmas, complete with sprinkles and decorations. My mom would also let me bake things like birthday cakes for dad. Once I made a whole wheat birthday cake for my brother, I think. It was awful, but everyone still ate it.

Well, Mom and Dad didn’t cook, so a good kitchen memory with mom or dad for me would have to be dying easter eggs!

I always enjoyed making fudge with my dad. I still have no idea if you have to hurry while adding all the ingredients, but he would freak out and shout a laundry list of ingredients to hand him asap. When I was in middle school I was making fudge with him, and he shouted for almond extract, STAT! I grabbed the first bottle I could find thinking it was the right thing, and of course it wasn’t. It was orange extract. We had a good laugh every time we munched on our orange-flavored fudge after that. While it wasn’t so great, it was a blast making kamikaze fudge!

I used to love making bread with my mom – I did the really hard job of “playing with the dough!” haha :) It was fun though. :)

That is so cute!!

I remember sitting on the porch snapping green beans with my Mom and a neighbor. Then going inside to help Mom wash them and watch her can them.

My mom is a terrible cook (sorry mom.. ok she isnt bad.. she just isnt amazing) lol.. (i love you mom)

My favorite moment in the kitchen actually was cooking with my grandmother.. she was an AMAZING cook and we would spend hours cooking for our large family in her kitchen.. She could make anything and everything was always fabulous. I only wish I was even remotely as good of a cook as she was. We both shared a allergy to strawberries and she decided one summer whne my parents were on vacation that we would both eat strawberries until we were sick as dogs… (which wasnt very many) and i think we spent the next three days covered in hives… and it suprisingly didnt kill me and I still can eat strawberries now. LOL

My Mom always involved my sisters and I in making dinner. We would stir, measure, and grate cheese or slice olives and mushrooms when we were a little older.

When i was growing up we didn’t have a lot of money.Single mom with 4 kids and just her job supporting.But it didn’t stop mom from coming up with delicious goodies for us .Several times a week mom and all 4 of us would make scratch cookies,or divinity,oatmeal cookies or tea cakes ..what a thrill.I still enjoy making these as a grandparent now…

I used to love coming home after school when I was a kid and seeing my mom come home from work. She would ask me how my day was and make me pasta with sauce. I miss eating pasta with sauce with my mother :)

by the time the end of the frosting of the christmas cookies was nigh, the decorating standards began to deterioate or in other words, got very asbstract with great swoops of colored sugar or sprinkles were applies by my role model Mom

I don’t know about a favorite memory, but my family likes to bring it up over and over and over and over. The time my cousin and I baked cookies with 2 cups of baking soda instead of 2 tsp.
We still haven’t lived it down nearly 30 years later.
