We are currently cell phone-less and I LOVE it! We did it because:

1. The service is terrible in the north woods
2. We're now on a budget!
3. They were for emergencies anyway. (Hey, what did we do BEFORE cell phones?)

Well, they do have their place, no question. My brother is a travelling rep...he has one. His wife drives almost an hour to work--she needs one too.

We were discussing this the other day, and I was saying how I don't miss it at all. I used it out of necessity, and after having a child I found it so easy to fit in phone calls to my friends while driving to the grocery store. Bad I know. My husband on the other hand feels his social life has totally tanked without it (Yes, once I had to make a rule "no cell phone calls when we're out!")
and he NEEDS one. I don't miss the phone ringing so much--one less thing to have to do in my busy life.

Most people have them, they are practically a necessity today, but I agree we need to be in the moment much more!

Too funny! I think it's hilarious when I see people walking through the store with cell phones plastered to their ears. Once I watched a woman do this for over 20 minutes! She was asking what to buy for the house. Ever heard of a list?

Maybe it's because I'm not popular enough to get so many phone calls, but to me I think such excessive cell phone use does nothing but feed the ego. I mean how many times do you have to run into other carts because you weren't paying attention before you put the phone down?

Wow, I think that's the biggest rant I've ever done. Ahh well, it had to happen some time. :0)

This relates to my pet peeve: people who text message other people while they are eating with me or others. I keep asking what's so important that it can't wait until we are done eating and enjoying our meal and they keep saying, well, it's text so they need a reply now. I still don't get it but ask that they put the phone away while we are eating. My friend is getting better at it but I still have to remind her.

Once again, I couldn't agree with you more.
And I was sad I missed out on the scarf! (My blog reader is usually a day late.) I've recently taken up knitting and discovered my addiction to yarns. I walk around Hobby Lobby rubbing them against my cheek (don't worry--the one on my face!). Mmm, so soft...
