When’s the last time you danced?punch-bowl.jpg

Not a slow dance with your honey at a coworker’s wedding, I’m talking about really dancing. Kick’in your feet up, getting sweaty, not caring about what people might think- kind of dancing?

When Jason and I were at Epcot recently, the United Kingdom section had a Beatles tribute band in the evening. It was a hoot! People of all ages, various walks of life, from all different parts of the world, gathered around with smiles on their faces and enjoying the classic tunes. Ironically the people who most likely had never heard the songs before were the ones dancing their hearts out… the kids. There were about a dozen kids dancing and giggling, many of them making new friends through exchanged smiles and laughs, as they jumped around the gazebo. Some of them (modeling their sherpa status) even pulled their parents up from the curb to dance with them. It’s impossible not to smile when you are watching a kid dance, unless of course you are this guy.

Most adults claim that they need to have a few drinks in them to feel like shaking their booty on the dance floor. What happened to our joyful childlike spirit?

I’m excited to share two guys who happen to be adults and seem to have managed to create Adultitis-free lives, at least it sure seems like it from these videos. We need more examples of guys and gals like this in our lives. Watching them certainly challenge me to get my groove on…and stop caring about who’s watching. I’m not just talking about dancing anymore but living life, in general. It’s time to start truly living, without concern of who’s approving or judging.

Matt Harding has an amazing story that you must read. He’s basically been celebrated for dancing all over the globe, literally- 39 countries, 7 continents, 6 months. The part of the video that warmed my heart the most is what happen in Mulindi, Rwanda- watch closely. It’s so remarkable they play more clips of it at the end of the video also.

Judson Laipply’s dancing is not only awesome, it’s a neat way to bring back some memories of times in your life when maybe you weren’t as inclined to be the wallflower. It makes me want to “Walk Like an Egyptian” and head on down to the “YMCA.”

Life is one big dance. Are you standing by the punch bowl?

I’ve recently found your blog. Love it. Thanks for the fun. The internet and music are my escapes lately. I’m glad there are people out there doing something positive on the Net.

[...] Ironically, at the convention I got the opportunity to make a new friend…Judson Laipply, the "Evolution of Dance Guy," which is one of the two videos I shared in my last post. Judson’s video is the #1 Most Viewed All Time Video on YouTube.com. He is a great example of someone who is truly being himself…and it’s serving him well! [...]

Some very, very, dear friends of mine showed me the Evolution of Dance video a year ago. (My mom thought it was strange. I have to admit I’m not crazy about dancing. But my passion for music is too much to resist watching it, just to listen to the wonderful mix of music styles.)
